Abstract:
The oil palm industry is one of the major pillars of the Malaysian economy through its significant contribution not only to Gross Domestic Product and export earnings but also in terms of employment. The industry is labour intensive and it employs the largest number of agricultural labour of whom most of them are foreign labour. Employing foreign workers in oil palm plantations has both positive and negative impacts and if not managed properly, sustainability of the whole industry could be affected.
